Our Classes

SLOW FLOW YOGA

Slow Flow Vinyasa Yoga is a slower pace class, mindfully moving and breathing while holding poses longer. You will explore your edge, yet still feel a relaxed and renewed experience. Poses can be refined and strengthened, without feeling rushed into the next move, next breath, or next pose. Slow flow allows a person to become familiar with his or her body, create a reflective pause, and create the time to go inward. Slow Vinyasa Yoga is a therapeutic dance of moving meditation. This class is geared towards all practitioners looking to build muscle strength, balance, coordination and mindfulness.

*** As we practice imbuing our efforts with grace, this approach becomes habitual and intrinsic to our nature on and off the yoga mat. Through The flow of our Vinyasa practice, we unfold toward greater self-awareness and acceptance, increased resilience and compassion, a healthier, calmer way of being.

ENERGETIC VINYASA FLOW

Energetic Vinyasa Flow Yoga is an all-levels vinyasa class that is meant to invigorate the body, mind, and senses with physically challenging, yet accessible sequences. Learn how to focus your body’s energies to build strength, balance and endurance. Students are always encouraged to rest when needed and receive instruction on modifying poses for their comfort and safety. The challenging experience of this Vinyasa practice strengthens and stretches the body, helps to quiet the mind, and uplifts the heart.

A typical class begins with the chanting of OM and concentration on our breath. Ujjayi breathing is emphasized throughout the class. We then move into sun salutations and standing poses for 30-45 minutes, to warm the body and establish a centered mood. We focus on deep breathing, in a Vinyasa flow, and on proper alignment. The rest of the class is devoted to Asana on the floor: a well-rounded blend of twists, forward bends, backward bends, balances, inversions and rests, carefully sequenced so as to access the inner grace in the more “difficult postures.” We will end class with Shvasana, resting pose.

Aerial Yoga

About Aerial Yoga

Aerial yoga is a combination of traditional yoga poses done on the floor, and postures practiced using a soft fabric “trapeze” (called a “sling”) suspended at waist height. This is the same fabric that aerialists use in the circus, but in aerial yoga our body weight is distributed between the fabric and the floor, allowing us to access traditional yoga postures in new ways.

Decompression: Many newcomers enjoy working with the sling because with the help of gravity there is very little pressure or stress on the joints, especially the spine. Inversions are accessed easily with no strain on the neck, back, or shoulders.

Alignment: Gravity eases us into optimal alignment with very little effort, and deep postures can be accessed through relaxation and deep breathing. Our relaxation response is heightened by the unique sensations accessed in aerial yoga.

Strength: Hanging in the sling makes our core muscles fire. It is so much fun you don’t even realize what a great workout you’re getting. Transitioning in and out of the aerial yoga postures builds upper body strength, and resting in the postures heightens relaxation for a balanced effort overall.

Classes are for anyone of any experience level who wants a little extra personalized instruction. Aerial Yoga was designed for anyone of any age or fitness level. Complete beginners to yoga and/or aerial will be right at home. Students range in age from teens up to 70’s
